Caring for Waiheke animals, and our community.

Our Organisation

WISCA (Waiheke Island Society for the Care of Animals) is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to providing help and support to the animals, people and community of Waiheke Island. We’ve been part of the Island’s community since 1971, originally known as Waiheke SPCA, part of the RNZSPCA. In 2012, a group of spirited Waihekeans campaigned for separation from the RNZSPCA, and WISCA was born.

Help us make a difference

We receive no government funding, and as a charitable organisation we rely on the generous support of the wonderful Waiheke community for the animals (and people) who need our help.

WISCA Services

WISCA provides a range of services to the Island’s animals, included household pets, ducks, geese and roosters. We provide welfare and rescue services, adoption and fostering, desexing and microchipping, as well as community education to help people become responsible pet owners.

WISCA Op Shop

We also run the Island’s most popular charity Op Shop, stocked with a huge range of items generously donated by Island residents. Popular with locals and visitors, our Op Shop offers clothing, footwear, toys, books, electrical goods and many other types of items at bargain prices.
