Moving house with your cat

If your cat is moving house it is IMPERATIVE that you keep him or her inside for at least two weeks. Although it seems cruel, it is a much better alternative than having them go missing and potentially getting lost or hurt trying to return to their old home - not to mention the trauma you and your family will go through if they disappear. After all, it's only a short time in the greater scheme of things.
This is standard practice for moving house with cats. When you do start letting them out, do so only during the day for increasing periods of time and accompany them at first. If you choose to let them out at night, wait for another two weeks. This is not a guarantee but it will dramatically reduce the probability of your cat going missing after a move!
